Kung Fu Panda 4

Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024)

Overall – 6.7/10

This was lackluster compared to the other Kung Fu Panda movies. While not terrible, it was very vanilla. There were a couple of jokes that made me snicker, but some jokes were too drawn out. Did this movie have to be made? No it didn’t. That’s what you need to know. But this was made to possibly kickstart another sequel.

Voiceovers – 4.3/5

Good voiceovers from a lot of famous actors. Jack Black is always good and Dustin Hoffman as well. Viola Davis also good as the villain. However, Awkwafina still is annoying. She’s been popping up lately in a lot of things, and it’s not good.

Writing/Story – 3.2/5

Not a great story, mostly a lot of rehashed things. They went with the normal formula and so they produced a very safe story. Po goes out with a friend, and takes down the evil villain. They run through all of Po’s previous enemies as if they were nothing and ended on a final battle which wasn’t that thrilling.

Soundtrack – 3.7/5

Maybe because the same sounding music has been played across four films now, but the music is hardly noticeable. It was good background for the movie, but Hans Zimmer had better things to do it felt like. Last good song by Jack Black’s group though.

Rewatchability – 3.0/5

Not very memorable, the only way is if I were to watch a marathon of Kung Fu Panda if I have kids. Otherwise, it’s just another in a long series of forgettable sequels this year.
